Graphic Design bermaksud: Proses dan seni yang menggabungkan text dan grafik serta menyampaikan mesej secara berkesan melalui logo, brochures, flyers, poster dan medium komunikasi visual yang lain. Dalam erti kata lain, Graphic Design adalah proses menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi oleh pelanggan yang memerlukan kreativiti, inovasi serta kepakaran teknikal, dalam memahami produk atau servis dan matlamat pelanggan, pesaing serta target audience, dan diterjemahkan dalam bentuk kombinasi warna, bentuk, gambar, ruang dan tipografi.

Graphic designer, unfortunately is one of the most under-rated profession in Malaysia. A simple logo as Google or Apple get us questioned as to why they cost millions to design. It's hard to even get by with a 300 ringgit design without providing at least 3 versions of the logo to the client to choose. That is excluding the comments and feedback from them that goes round and round.
ReplyDeleteA new breed of designer, called digital media design (DMD) that crafts motion images are more valuable than graphic design now. There's story that a senior designer at Sony gets RM25k per month as salary.
With tons of free graphic design websites - Canva for example, providing free resources, anyone can become a designer now without the technical skills. Time to bag in more skills.
